Our commitment to sustainability

We understand the impact that our operations may have. For that reason, we seek to proactively ensure that we are as locally sustainable as possible. Our ambition is to develop more responsible practices and use long-term thinking as a guiding principle in all aspects of our work.

Our sustainability policy builds on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals; six goals addressing environmental responsibility and four focused on social responsibility.

Partnering with local suppliers

Travel Connect is committed to adopt responsible practices and build trust through our communication with suppliers, local communities, and customers.

While working with partners, we give preference to suppliers with internationally or nationally acknowledged sustainability certifications when possible. We also aim to support and work with local accommodation that are actively working on limiting their environmental impact.

Sustainable Certifications

Travel Connect, along with its brands Nordic Visitor, Iceland Travel, Terra Nova, Iceland Tours, Iceland Unlimited and Nine Worlds, is a member of Travelife.
This is an internationally recognised training, management, and certification programme for sustainability in tourism.

Travelife has a 3-stage approach, and Travel Connect is proud to announce that we’ve received their top recognition, Travelife Certified. This makes us, along with 5 of our brands, the first in Iceland to have achieved this certification.

Responsible tourism

Travel Connect has signed Iceland's Responsible Tourism statement, committing to protect nature, ensure guest safety, uphold employee rights, and positively impact local communities.

This collaborative initiative, led by the Icelandic Tourism Cluster and Travel Industry Association under presidential patronage, aims to position Iceland as a global sustainability leader by 2030.
